Meet Emily:

"When I was asked to share my favorite story, I couldn’t choose anything other than “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson! I love this book because it has a clever little mouse who outsmarts all the big, scary animals in the woods".

What I Love About It:

1. The Characters: The mouse is so brave! I love how he uses his wits to trick the fox, the owl, and the snake into thinking he’s friends with a Gruffalo, which is a made-up monster. The Gruffalo itself is funny and not scary at all. I like how he has big tusks and terrible tusks, but he’s just a big softy!
2. The Rhyme: The story is written in rhyme, which makes it really fun to read out loud. My mom and I take turns reading it, and we love to make silly voices for each character. It’s so much fun to read together!
3. The Illustrations: Axel Scheffler’s illustrations are colorful and lively. I can’t help but smile when I see the pictures of the Gruffalo and the little mouse. Each page is full of detail, and I love spotting new things every time I read it.
4. The Lesson: The story teaches me that sometimes being clever is more important than being big and strong. It shows that even the smallest creatures can be brave and smart!
